Grants For The Contractor

1) Achievement Incentive Program is designed to provide Milestone payments to employers for apprentice trade progression and completion retroactive to April 1, 2020. Enhanced milestone payments, including a new registration milestone payment, will be provided to employers that sponsor new youth (under the age of 25) and underrepresented apprentices (female, transgendered, Francophone, Indigenous, newcomer, person with a disability and/or racialized) retroactive to April 1, 2022 (see Table 1 for further details). Achievement Incentive Program 2022-2023 Program Guidelines (gov.on.ca)

2) Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit (AJCTC) Red Seal trades only Non-refundable tax credit equal to 10% of the eligible salaries and wages payable to eligible apprentices in respect of employment after May 1, 2006. Grants/Loans For The Apprentice

1) The apprentice is entitled to an Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) which is a taxable cash grant available to registered apprentices once they have successfully completed their first or second year/level (or equivalent) of the apprenticeship program. Funding: Apprenticeship Incentive Grant – What this grant offers – Canada.ca

Under the new Apprenticeship Incentive Grant for Women (AIGW) each Level completed (maximum of 2) a $3000 taxable cash is granted. Funding: Apprenticeship Incentive Grant for Women – What this grant offers – Canada.ca

  • Level 1 or Block of In-School Training – $1000.00 ($3000 for Women)
  • Advanced Level 2 of In-School Training – $1000.00  ($3000 for Women)


2) The apprentice is entitled to an Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG) of $2000.00 once they hold a Certificate of Qualification. Funding: Apprenticeship Completion Grant – What this grant offers – Canada.ca

3) Canada Apprentice Loan – RED SEAL registered apprentices are entitled to up to $4000.00 interest free loan (maximum of 6 years) under the program to help with the purchase of tools, tuition, etc. and able to apply for loan for each Level of in-school training. Canada Apprentice Loan – Canada.ca

4) Apprenticeship Completion in Non-Red Seal Trades is a grant available to registered apprentice after they successfully complete their apprenticeship training and obtain their Certificate of Apprenticeship  and, where available, their C of Q in any Ontario NON RED SEAL trade, on or after April 1, 2009.  This completion bonus is a table cash grant of $2,000.00.

6) NEW! Ontario Tools grant is a non-repayable tools grant available for apprentices as of August 2020.  As an apprentice, this grant will help you pay for tools and equipment for your trade. Before you apply (gov.on.ca)
